Poutine a traditional dish in Canada


Poutine is a common Canadian dish that originated in Quebec. It is made with french fries that topped with gravy-like sauce and cheese curds. This dish can be found across Canada and also in some places in the USA and the UK. This dish originated in rural Quebec in late 1950s. It is used in the small diners and pubs and roadside fry wagons.

There are different meaning of “poutine”. Some think it as pudding and make it a word from which the word poutine is derived. In other meanings of poutine the one that 'dish prepared by unappetizing mixture of various foods, usually leftovers'.


The Nightmares Fear Factory


The Nightmares Fear Factory is a haunted house in Niagara Falls, Ontario in Canada. It is the oldest haunted house in Canada. This most attractive place was built in an old coffin factory. The owner of the factory was Abraham Moritimer,  was killed after a stack of coffins collapsed on him.

This tour is of just fifteen minutes and it is in total darkness, only small red lights on the floors, ceiling, and walls are lit. The visitors has to follow these red lights to get through the haunted house. Visitors' frightened reactions and expressions are recorded so that everyone in the lobby can watch and get excited.

The Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto


The Hockey Hall of Fame is in Toronto. It is dedicated to the history of ice hockey. It is museum as well as hall of fame. It holds exhibits of teams, players, hockey leagues records, trophies, etc. It was found in Kingston and was established in 1943 under the supervision of James T. Sutherland. In 1958, after the NHL (National Hockey League) withdrew its support in Kingston, it moved to Toronto.

The Hockey Hall of Fame has fifteen exhibit areas. Visitors can see trophies and equipment used during special games. The Esso Great Hall that exhibits portraits and Biographical information regarding Hall of Fame members. This Hall is also described as “a Cathedral to icons of Hockey”.


Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal


Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal is a Roman catholic minor basilica and national shrine in Montreal. It is largest Canadian church.

It was a small chapel on the slopes of Mount Royal. Soon it becomes too small for growing number of gathering. And, in 1917 a large church was made with seating capacity of 1000 people. Father Paul Bellot, an architect designed the dome of the church and completed it in 1939. The dome is the third largest in the world. In 1951, Gilbert Moreau architect made improvement to the interior of the church and adjacent monastery.

The Calgary Stampede, Alberta

The Calgary Stampede is an annual festival, exhibition and rodeo held in Calgary, Alberta in Canada in July every year-round. It is the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, it attracts millions of tourists every year. It is the one of the world's largest place to exhibit different shows like rodeos, midway, concerts, stage shows, a parade, and many agricultural events and competitions.

American promoter Guy Weadick when returned to Calgary in 1919, he organized the Victory Stampede to honor the World War I soldiers. After that event it became annual festival. And, in 1923 it was merged with Calgary Industrial Exhibition to create Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.

Fallsview Indoor Water park


Fallsview Indoor Water park is located in Niagara Falls, Ontario. It is the part of the North America's largest hotel, and entertainment complex . It is situated near the Falls and Rainbow Bridge. It is the one of the cleanest and most spacious water park in Canada. This water park was officially opened in May 2006. The water used in this park is more than 200,000 gallons. In this park there are 16 winding water slides, huge wave pool and kid-friendly beach house. It is eight storeyed and covering three acres on the Falls Avenue Entertainment complex. It is ideal for fun games and water slides and for family vacation.


The Montreal Botanical Garden



The Montreal Botanical Garden is a large garden in Montreal, Quebec. This garden spreads over 76 hectares of land with thematic garden and greenhouses. It is one of the most important botanical gardens in the world. It was designated as a National Historic site of Canada in year 2008. 

There is a greenhouse complex that displays plants from around the world. It consists of large number of outdoor gardens with different themes. It was founded by mayor Camillien Houde and designed by Henry Teuscher. Its main motto is to educate the students of horticulture and public in general. It serves to conserve endangered plant species. This garden also conducts many botanical researches in the botanical research institution.



The Distillery District in Toronto


The Distillery District is located in east of Downtown Toronto in Ontario. It is the historic and entertainment precinct. It contains number of restaurants, cafes, and shops within the heritage buildings of the Worts Distillery. This district is having 13 acres of area that having about 45 heritage buildings and 11 streets and it is the largest collection of Victorian-era architecture. It was designated as National Historic Site of Canada in 1988.

It was the largest distillery in the world in the 1860 and was founded in 1832. It once provides over two million US gallons of whiskey for export on the world market. But later this becomes the development of past. After the economic recession in 90s, it cannot be revitalized and the site awaited redevelopment and reinvestment. But, its unique design and architecture attracts attentions of tourists and filmmakers. This site has been the part of about 800 films and television productions.



Moraine Lake in Alberta


Moraine Lake is a lake in Banff National Park, outside the Lake Louise, Alberta in Canada. It is located in the Valley of Ten Peaks. The water of the lake is of beautiful blue color. It is just like heaven on the earth. It is nature's gift to human being. One should definitely go to that lake to enjoy natural beauty of the lake.

This lake is glacially fed lake that does not reach its crust until mid June. When it is full, it reflects various shades of blue. This blue shade is due to refraction of sunlight in the lake water. The area is around the lake has many hiking and walking trails. These trails are most attractive part of the area. The Rockpile Trail along the moraine lake is 300 meters long, the view of the lake from the top of the rockpile is one of the most photogenic locations is all Canada. This view of the lake is called Twenty Dollar View.

The Butchart Gardens in Brentwood


The Butchart Gardens is a garden with floral display all around. It located in Brentwood Bay, BC, Canada. This garden is just like a canvas decorated with beautiful colors. This garden attracts about million of visitors every year. It was designated as National Historic Site of Canada due to its international fame. Robert Pim Butchart and his wife Jennie Butchart came to the west coast of Canada for cement production. They establish their home at that place. They established this beautiful garden with the help of Isaburo Kishida a garden designer from Yokohama. And, slowly they turned their tennis courts into Italian garden and then replaced their kitchen garden with rose garden with the help of Butler Sturtevant of Seattle.

The Plains Of Abraham, Quebec


The Plains of Abraham is a historic area within the Battlefields Park in Quebec. It was originally a grazing land, it became famous only after the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, which took place in 1759. This park is used for about four million visitors and tourists annually for festivals, outdoor concerts, relaxation and for sports.

The plains are named after a fisherman and river pilot The Scot, whose name was Abraham Martin. He and his wife moved to Quebec City in 1635 and received 32 acres of land from the company of New France.


Beacon Hill Park, Victoria


Beacon Hill park is a 200 acre park located in Victoria, BC. This park contains number of ecreational things including a waterpark, two playgrounds, playing fields, a petting zoo, and landscape gardens and woodland. This area was originally a protected area by Sir James Douglas, in 1858. The land was officially made municipal park of the City of Victoria in 1882. Its name was derived from a small hill.

This park is having gardens and playing fields, and it is rich with native flora including Douglas-fir, Garry oak, snowberry, western redcedar, trillium, and fawn lily. And, in this flora species like racoons, river otters, squirrels and many types of birds are seen in abundance. The ponds in this park are having swans, ducks, blue herons and geese.

Canada's Wonderland, Vaughan


Canada's Wonderland is a theme park that located in Vaughan, Ontario. It is the first largest theme park in Canada. It has been most visited theme park in North America. The park has sixteen roller coasters, 20 acre water park that is Splash Works. This theme park feature about 200 attractions and 70 thrilling rides. It is Canada's premier amusement park. It is the park where families come to spend quality time with good friends and with each other. This park is loaded with fun games for children, adults, and for seniors. It include many rides and other attractions.

The Toronto Zoo


The Toronto Zoo is located in Toronto, Ontario. Its founder was successful industrialist Mr. Hugh A. Crothers. It was opened in August 1974. It was earlier called Metropolitan Toronto Zoo. It was located near River Rouge. It is largest zoo in Canada with 710 acres of area. It is divided into seven geographic zoo regions. The regions are named as Africa, America, Tundra, Indo Malaya, Autralasia, Eurasia, and Canadian Domain. Some animal in this zoo are displayed indoors and some are displayed outdoors in natural environments. In this zoo there are some other areas such as Waterside theatre, Splash Island and Kids Zoo.

This zoo has most diverse collection of animals that are displayed here , it is currently having 5000 animals that are representing 450 species. The zoo is a most popular zoo in Canada, and every year thousands of visitors come to see these rare animals. There are seven regions that showcase different and rare species of animals and plants.

Grouse Mountain, Vancouver


Grouse Mountain is the mountain of Pacific Ranges in the North Vancouver, BC, Canada. It is 4000 ft in altitude at its peak. It is the site of an alpine ski area with 26 runs and with four chairlifts. And in summer this mountain demonstrate wildlife with scenic beauty and chairlift ride, and hiking trail that is called as the Grouse Grind. It also having 100 seated mountaintop theater and wildlife refuge.

Tourists can access to the mountain by a Swiss Garaventa aerial tramway or by the Grouse Grind hiking trail.


Casino Rama, Ontario


Casino Rama is a Casino and entertainment complex located in the town of Rama in Ontario, Canada. It was the joint venture between First Nations, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and Penn National Gaming. It was the first commercial casino. It hosts ticketed entertainment shows regularly. It was opened on July 31st, 1996. It has 5036 seating capacity and hosted many stars.

The casino has also hosted many live boxing events. It has hosted the first  MMA event in Ontario first of its kind in 2011.

Vancouver Aquarium, BC

Vancouver Aquarium is officially called the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Center. It is located in Stanley park in Vancouver in BC, Canada. It is major tourist attraction as well as center for marine research and rehabilitation.Vancouver Aquarium was designated as Coastal America Learning Center in October 2009 by the US Environmental Protection Agency. This was the first Center to strengthen the US /Canadian partnership for protecting ocean resources.It is the first and largest Aquarium in Vancouver and in Canada. This aquarium was first to capture and display an orca and also others whales and dolphins including narwhals, belugas and dolphins.


The aquarium has covered 9,000 sq mts. And has a total 9,500,000 liters of water. There are about 166 aquatic display and number of different galleries.

Ontario Science Centre, Toronto


Ontario Science Centre is a science museum in Toronto. This center has many exhibits throughout the building included geology, astronomy, music, technology and many other  sciences, etc.
Planning to built this building was started much earlier in 1961, and architect Raymond Moriyama was hired for designing. Its design consist of three main parts of building that series of bridges and escalators and natural contours of the Don River ravine.

Ther Air Canada Centre, Toronto



The Air Canada Centre is a multipurpose indoor sporting arena situated in Toronto in Canada. This arena is operated and owned by Maple Leaf Sports&Entertainment Ltd. It is the home for National Hockey League. 

It is also known as ACC. This arena is 665,000 sq ft in size. It is the busiest arena in Canada. And, also 13,000 parking spaces. This arena includes many feature like luxury suites, restaurants, splitting scoreboard and many other valuable features.

Cypress Mountain is ski area in Vancouver in BC in Canada. This ski resort is a thirty minutes away from downtown of Vancouver. It has 53 ski runs and 19km trail of cross country. There are many places to enjoy like Gold Medal Cafe, Snow School and rentals, Cypress Creek Grill, and Cray Raven Bar and Grill, etc.It has hosted many ski events like Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding events of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Ski Bromont Resort, Quebec

Ski Bromont is a resort located in Bromont, Quebec. It is alpine ski resort on the slopes of Mount Brome. It is the major ski center in the North America.This Bromont is on the edge of Snowbelt that was created by Appalachians south of the St. Lawrence Valley. The Mount Brome is at hight of 2000 feet. And resort is at the top of the Mount Brome. This resort opened in 1964, created in the same year when City of Bromont was created. The Montreal city also invest in this resort and even Canadian government has also invested in this resort. By these investment this ski resort become the largest night skiing venue in North America after it completed its lighted ski runs from 10 to 50.

Roger Center, Ontario


Rogers Center is a multipurpose stadium in Toronto in Canada. It was originally known as SkyDome. This stadium is the first stadium with fully retractable motorized roof. It has 348 room hotel attached to it. It is the major league stadium to accommodate both baseball and football.
Roger Center was designed by architect Rod Robbie and Michael Allen and it was constructed by EllisDon Construction Company of London, Ontario and Dominion Bridge Company of Quebec.

Montreal Qubec Canada




Montreal is a city in Quebec province. It is the largest in Quebec and second largest in whole Canada. It was originally called Ville-Marie which means 'City of Mary'. It is named after triple peaked hill in the city named Mount Royal.

The city's official language is French . Major part of the population speaks French and other languages which are used in this city are English and many other languages. It is bilingual city in Quebec and Canada.
 

Winnipeg Manitoba Canada



Winnipeg is the largest city and capital of the province of Manitoba in Canada. It is located near the confluence of the two rivers: Red River and Assiniboine River.

Winnipeg name comes from the muddy waters from Westerncree. Winnipeg is the 7th most populated in Canada.

The Cave and Basin, Alberta Canada



The Cave and Basin is located in the town of Banff, Alberta in Canada. It is situated within the Canadian Rocky Mountain, where Canada's Banff National Park, the first national park was established.

It is National Historic Site of Canada. It was declared as National Historic Site in 1981. these caves are warm water caves with sulphur mountains. William McCardell and his brother and Frank McCabe first saw these caves in 1883. they were astonished to see these warm water caves.

Charlottetown Prince Edward Island


Charlottetown is a Canadian city. It is the number one tourist place to visit. It is the largest and provincial capital of this Island named Prince Edward Island. It was first established as a town in 1855

         It was famous for first Charlottetown Conference in 1864, this Conference is the first gathering of Maritime statesmen of Canada to propose Maritime Union. It is also known as Canadian Confederation because there was Union of British North America. From this Confederation, this city got its motto that is Birthplace of Confederation--- Cunabula Foederis.

Quebec city, Quebec


Quebec is the capital of Quebec province of Canada. It has population of 517,000 people living in this city making it the 2nd most populous city after Montreal. It is located in the valley named Saint Lawrence River. This region is flat and low-lying. This valley is rich with fertile soil, which makes this region fertile in the province.

Quebec City has an experience of four seasons. Summers are hot and warm with high humidity with average temperature of 22-25 C and Winters are snowy, cold and windy with average temperature of -5 to -8 C. In winter snow stays from December to April.

Fogo Island, Newfoundland and Labrador



Fogo Island is largest in the Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. This Island is about 14km wide and 25 km long with total area of 237,71 km square. It has population of 2700 people. Earlier only fisherman used to visit this Island, but there was no permanent settlements, but in 18th century Fogo Harbour and Tilting Harbour were first to settle on the Island.

Nahanni National Park, NWT



Nahanni National Park Reserve is in Northwest Territories of Canada. The centerpoint of the park is South Nahanni River. Name Nahanni comes from Dene language. It is the name of area 'Naha Dahe' means river of the land of Naha people.
This river is the main feature of the park, offering adventures and wild experience. There are four water canyons.It is the best example of northern wilderness canyons, rivers, alpine tundras and gorges. Total area of the park is 30,050 km sq.This park area overlaps two ecozones that are Taiga Plains and Taiga cordillera and touches the Boreal Cordillera.

Discovery Islands BC






Discovery Islands are beyond imagination with the group of ten Islands and lush green environment. It located in British Columbia. It is situated between mainland and Vancouver island.

It was named after the name of ship HMS Discovery, belongs British Explorer Captain George Vancouver. Lighthouse at Sea Bird Point on Discovery Island marks the junction of two straits. The two straits are Haro and Juan De Fuca. The Lighthouse was built and manned for 110 years and got fully automated in 1996.The surroundings of this Island are designated as a park. It is undeveloped area named Discovery Island Marine Provincial Park. 


The Rideau Canal


The Rideau Canal connects the city Ottawa to the city Kingston of Ontario, Canada on the Ottawa River. The length of canal is 202 kilometers. Rideau in French means 'curtain', it is derived its name from curtain-like appearance of Riveer's twin waterfalls.
It was opened as a precaution in 1832 in case of war with the US. But, today it remains in use for pleasure boating and other recreational activities. It is one of the oldest canal system in North America that is continuously operated. In 2007 it was declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It was designated as a Canadian Heritage River in 2000 for its historical and recreational values. It is a genius works of human creativity. It is a best example of slack water canal in North America. It was also known as well-preserved and an extensive example of canal that is used for military purpose.

Jasper National Park

Jasper National Park is largest park in Canada. It is located in Alberta province. This park includes huge glaciers of the Columbia Icefield, lakes, and waterfalls, hot springs, and mountains, etc.It was Jasper Hawes, who operated a post for trading and it was named after him in 1907, and granted national park status in 1930.  It was declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.It is wonderful place for vacation with beauty and wonder. It includes waterfalls, big mountains and lakes to enjoy. Summer in this place is totally different from rest of the places.

In this gallery there are about  80,000  piece of  art work.In this gallery there is large number of collections of Canadian art, European art, Oceanic art, African art, and modern and contemporary art collection. In this gallery large part of collection is photography and extensive print and drawing collection. It contains many significant and historic objects, sculptures, miniatures, architecture graphic art, frames, books, films, video art and ship models.
In this gallery, the structure house does not only display collection, but also had a library, gallery workshop, student space, theatre and lecture hall, restaurant and cafe, research center, gift shop, and most spacious Baillie Court.
