Montreal Qubec Canada

Montreal is a city in Quebec province. It is the largest in Quebec and second largest in whole Canada. It was originally called Ville-Marie which means 'City of Mary'. It is named after triple peaked hill in the city named Mount Royal.

The city's official language is French . Major part of the population speaks French and other languages which are used in this city are English and many other languages. It is bilingual city in Quebec and Canada.

Temperature in Montreal in summers are humid and hot with average of 22 C in July and in Winters are usually cold windy and snowy with icy weather with an average of temperature of -9 to -10 degrees  in January.

This city is called National Historic Sites of Canada. It was financial and industrial center of Canada. There are many varieties of factories, mills and refineries and buildings which provide legacy of architectural and historic interest.

It is also called 'City of Design' by the UNESCO. This title was proud and honor for the Montreal's design community.

Based on its GDP it has the largest economy in Quebec and second largest in Canada. It is having important center of commerce, technology, finance and world affairs . There are many top industries that include aerospace, pharmaceuticals, software engineering, textile and many other industries that make this country's economy rich.

One of the main attraction is the Port of Montreal. It is the largest in the world with handling 26 million tonnes of cargo per annum. It is the one of the most important port for Canada.

By Monocle magazine Montreal was referred as a cultural Capital of Canada. The city's various cultural communities had given the city distinct local culture.
