Calgary Alberta Canada



Calgary is a city of Alberta in Canada.  The 2011 census show city's population as 1,096,833 of people. It is the largest city of this province. The economy of this city is based on financial services, energy, technology, aerospace, health and wellness, transportation and tourism industries. It is the first city of Canada to host Olympic Winter Games in 1988.

Various animal and plant species are found around and within the city. Its economy is totally based on oil industry. It is called as a leader of oil industries and economic expansion. With highest GDP per capita it has low unemployment and high family and personal incomes. For these reasons' Globalization and World Cities Research Network has designated Calgary is a 'global city'. It is third in North America in quality life among other cities.

Alberta as strong job market, this give benefit to Calgary and, Calagary-Edmonton Corridor is the fastest growing corridor in the country. Many financial services and many oil and gas companies headquarters are in the city.

City's Forest Lawn is most diverse with number of multicultural areas. The city has many restaurants and ethnic stores and it is called cultural city of Canada.

The Public Library of the city with seventeen branches issuing books, CDs, audiobooks,e-books, and many more. This library is second largest in the country.

Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium is the best auditorium for culture, arts and community. This auditorium is having twin facilities. It was opened in 1957 with 2538 seats and hosted many musical, theatrical, and local productions.

Calgary is the destination for winter games because of its Rocky Mountains. It is hosting winter games since 1988.  And it home for many winter sports like skiing, cross country skiing. Downhill skiing, etc.

It was called one of the world's top eco-city. Calgary was declared world's cleanest city and best place to live.
